Bursary description:
- The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is South Africa’s leading and most important research and development organization.
- The CSIR is Africa’s largest research and development organization, accounting for around 10% of the continent’s total research and development spending.
- Students enrolling in honours will be covered up to R100,000 each year for the bursary.
- Students enrolling in a master’s degree will be covered up to R120 000 each year for the bursary.
- Students enrolling in a PHD degree will be covered up to R140 000 each year for the bursary.

- Data Science/Machine learning
- Biometrics
- Cybersecurity/Information security
- Microsystems Technology
- Titanium
- Photonics
- Biotechnology
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Information System/Informatics
- Health Science
- Engineering
- Physics
- Mathematical Science
- Epidemiology and Biostatistics
- Chemistry/Biochemistry
- Pure/Applied Mathematics
Bursary requirements:
- Should be a South African citizen.
- Should have an exceptional academic record.
- Should be interested in enrolling or currently enrolled at an accredited South African university.
- Should be studying or interested in studying in the fields mentioned above.
- Should have good communication and leadership skills.

- Certified copy of your South African ID (Less than 3 months old).
- Documentation of why you need financial assistance, this can include parent’s pay slip and a motivational letter.
- Acceptance letter/document from the university stating you have been accepted for the enrollment of the studies you will be pursuing.
- Certified copy of your latest academic record for university students.
- Certified copy of your Academic record (Grade 12 latest academic record/Grade 11 final academic record).
