National Arts Council (NAC) International Bursary 2021 – 2022

Bursary description:

  • South Africa’s National Arts Council was established in 1997 by an act of Parliament. The goal of creating this council was to promote and develop South African culture via the arts.
  • The South African Department of Arts and Culture manages and operates the National Arts Council. 
  • By distributing grants and awards to arts organizations, the National Arts Council is responsible for  strengthening the country’s creative industry. 
  • The National Arts Council hopes to nurture and develop the potential of students, art technicians,  art  practitioners, art administrators, and others in the art sector through the bursary program.
  • The National Arts Council guarantees that the country may maintain a robust pool of talents  through  its  bursary.
  • The National Arts Council offers two types of bursaries:
  • The National Arts Council is offering two types of bursaries:
  1. Block Institutional Bursary – Undergraduate students are eligible for this bursary, It is exclusively  available to institutional department heads for undergraduate students at their institution.
  2. Individual Bursaries – This scholarship is accessible to students directly.

Must be interested in enrolling or studying the following degrees:

  • Dance
  • Craft
  • Literature
  • Music
  • Theatre
  • Multidiscipline
  • Visual Arts

Bursary requirements:

  • Should be a South African citizen.
  • Should be studying towards the degrees mentioned above (undergraduate/postgraduate).
  • Should be interested or currently enrolled in an accredited/recognized university.
  • Should prove that they need financial assistance.

  • Certified copy of your South African ID (Less than 3 months old).
  • Documentation of why you need financial assistance, this can include parent’s pay slip and a motivational letter.
  • Acceptance letter/document from the university stating you have been accepted for the enrollment of the studies you will be pursuing.
  • Certified copy of your latest academic record for university students.
  • Certified copy of your Academic record (Grade 12 latest academic record/Grade 11 final academic record).
